Sylvia Haskvitz has been a registered dietitian
since 1983. She’s incorporated a holistic
twist in the last decade and wrote Eat by
Choice, Not by Habit: Practical Skills for
Creating a Healthy Relationship with Your
Body and Food (Puddledancer Press 2005). She
also became a CNVC Certified Trainer in 1989.
Eat
by Choice, Not by Habit combines Sylvia’s
passions for both supporting people in living
healthier lives and assisting them in learning
to treat themselves with compassion as they
do so. Sylvia has written an e-guidebook to
accompany Eat by Choice for both adults and
children, and her essay “Enemy Images”
was published in Healing Our Planet, Healing
Ourselves (APC Books 2005). She lives in Tucson,
Arizona and has directed and produced a weekly
radio program and hosted a television show,
both of which were based in her training with
Nonviolent Communication.
Sylvia
has also offered health education through
corporate health fairs and NVC training to
businesses and organizations including Silicon
Graphics, Bechtel Corporation, Head Start,
Health Net, and St. Mary's Hospital. She has
presented Nonviolent Communication skills
at several conferences, including the Navaho
Nation Division of Social Services Annual
Conference, National Conference on Peace and
Conflict Resolution Studies, and Peacemaking:
