iNDIGO
PROjECT, a multimedia production company
that produces non-fiction stories to entertain
and inspire progress within local and global
communities, has partnered with CHALK4PEACE,
Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit and the Mid-City
West Community Council, to create peace on
the streets in the heart of Los Angeles. Please
come out to the CHALK4PEACE event from 3 -
7 PM on Saturday, September 12, 2009.
CHALK4PEACE,
a worldwide chalk art project now in its fourth
year, puts chalk into the eager hands of children,
and encourages them to express their thoughts
on the theme of peace. Every September, across
five continents and in over a hundred locations,
each event invites all kids at heart to use
their imagination to creatively convey the
vision for a more peaceful planet. The Washington
DC Commission for the Arts and Humanities
commends the CHALK4PEACE project, which has
been met with enthusiastic approval from many
young artists who now look forward to doodling
on pavements for all to see.
The
event will include a Lemonade stand hosted
by Penmen Elite with donations benefiting
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation that
seeks to find cures for cancer in children.
And if you’re cleaning out your closet
this summer, bring your shoes, clothing, and
books that will go towards Helping Others
Worldwide foundation, who will ship the items
to needy orphanages and impoverished families
in Sierra Leone, Africa. We will be entertaining
all young chalkers with special live musical
guests, local artists, yoga and crystal bowl
healing by Gurutej. Water, chalk, treats and
fun, fun, fun will be provided!
Arrive
to the Miracle Mile Art Walk by Metro or DASH,
and visit the participating galleries via
the Holly Trolley, which runs the neighborhood
starting at 4PM at La Brea and 1st Street
for free! The night will continue on with
some rocking after parties at various galleries
providing free food, drinks, live music and
Djs.
