Cecilia
Zuniga, Ph.D., is a writer, counselor, and
teacher. She is a Board Certified Professional
Counselor and a Nationally Certified School
Psychologist with a doctorate degree in Educational
Psychology. She has worked with children and
families in some capacity for over 30 years.
For more than two decades, Dr. Zuniga has
dedicated herself to exploring the value in
living holistically and honoring all aspects
of the Self: the physical, mental, emotional,
spiritual, and energetic. Now, she is passionate
about supporting others in experiencing the
gifts that this model offers, particularly
toward our children's wholeness and wellness.
Dr.
Zuniga is holistically supporting children’s
health and wholeness, particularly in relation
to the diagnosis of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity
Disorder (AD/HD) or other diagnoses. There
is a lot of controversial and distorted information
about the AD/HD diagnosis in particular, the
medications prescribed for it, and about what
are called the “alternatives”
to medication. The reality is that there remain
strong controversies around the AD/HD diagnosis
and how it is handled. Part of this talk focuses
on what we’ve learned during the past
three decades about the AD/HD diagnosis and
medications prescribed for it; and part of
the focus is on what we know about holistic,
non-medication options for supporting children’s
health and wholeness in the long term. The
basis of this interview is a book called AD/HD
Generation: Holistic Ways to Support Children,
due out in October of this year.
