Brent
Cameron is first a father and second an educator. For
the past 25 years he has been working with children, youth,
families and educators in a unique - beyond the paradigm
of schooling - learning community in Vancouver and British
Columbia Canada. It all started in 1983 when his 6 year
old daughter walked out of school after the first two
weeks. He was so inspired by her enthusiasm and delightful
curiosity about the world that he could not stand to send
her to a place she found boring. He had been inspired
by her playful learning and decided to design a learning
program around all children’s natural learning ability.
He worked for the next 8 years with a group of 12 children
and won 3 national Canadian awards for his program. For
the next 4 years he and a colleague founded an innovative
learning community for about 35 teenagers. The program
won several more local, national and international awards.
In
2002 Brent and several colleagues took the unique learning
methodologies developed in the Wondertree and Virtual
High programs and designed an online version called the
SelfDesign Learning Community for home learning families
in the province of BC. Starting with 100 learners in 2002
the program has now grown to over 1000 learners and their
families in the year 2009. The program won the Prime Minister’s
Award several years ago and Brent is currently writing
his Ph.D. thesis on the attributes of the programs and
on research into the lifelong influence on its graduates
who are now 30 years old. The SelfDesign Foundation is
currently responding to interest from around the world
to the success of Brent and his partner River’s
book - SelfDesign: Nurturing Genius through Natural Learning.
SelfDesign is an integral program using holistic learning
strategies and new models for understanding how human’s
learn and live, to help each learner in their family and
community find their purpose and work towards self-actualization.

Since I was a child, I have had a love affair with
the DIVINE. My life is a dance of heaven as earth
in the wonder of being. I see GOD expressing in
myriad ways, beautifully flourishing as each, exquisite
expression. I recognize the immensity of LOVE which
is GOD pouring forth as and through all life. My
joy is to remind you of the LOVE that you are and
the LIGHT of your being. I call forth the PEACE,
HARMONY and ABUNDANCE and more that moves, breathes
and has its being as you through you. I do absolutely
see the MAGNIFICENCE of each person ... the fire
that is their special spark whose light shapeshifted
into form and plays in this fascinating sapphire-emerald
sphere we call home.

Guest:
Josh
Tickell
FUEL
is an insightful portrait of America’s addiction
to oil and an uplifting testament to the immediacy of
new energy solutions. Director, Josh Tickell, a young
activist, shuttles us on a whirlwind journey to track
the rising domination of the petrochemical industry
— from Rockefeller’s strategy to halt Ford’s
first ethanol cars to Vice President Cheney's petrochemical
company sponsored energy legislation — and reveals
a gamut of available solutions to "repower America"
— from vertical farms that occupy skyscrapers
to algae facilities that turn wastewater into fuel.
Tickell and a surprising array of environmentalists,
policy makers, and entertainment notables take us through
America’s complicated, often ignominious energy
past and illuminate a hopeful, achievable future, where
decentralized, sustainable living is not only possible,
it’s imperative.

and reassessment.”The Compass will have its world
