Carla
Hannaford, Ph.D. is a biologist and educator
with more than forty years teaching experience,
including twenty years teaching biology at
the university level and four years as a counselor
for elementary and intermediate school children
with learning diffi culties.
She
is an internationally recognized educational
consultant, having presented more than six
hundred lectures and workshops in thirty-five
countries over the past two decades. She was
selected as a guest educator with the AHP-Soviet
Project in 1988, has been recognized by Who’s
Who in American Education, and has received
awards from the University of Hawaii and the
American Association for the Advancement of
Science for outstanding teaching in science.
She has advised ministries and departments
of education in the United States, Russia,
South Africa, Singapore and Scotland.
Her
first book, Smart Moves; Why Learning Is Not
All In Your Head, first published in 1995
and updated in 2005, has sold over 140,000
copies in English and been translated into
thirteen languages. She is also the author
of The Dominance Factor, How Knowing Your
Dominant Eye, Ear, Brain, Hand & Foot
Can Improve Your Learning, and Awakening The
Child Heart, Handbook for Global Parenting.
She authored and co-produced the video Education
in Motion, and presented her work with co-presenters,
Candace Pert and Susan Kovalik on the video
Emotions: Gateway to Learning.
Carla
Hannaford has contributed articles to educational
and science journals and been featured in
scores of radio and television interviews
in the U.S. and abroad.
Her
fourth book, Playing in the Unifi ed Field;
Raising and Becoming Conscious, Creative Human
Beings was published in March 2010.
