a child, Don Miguel Ruiz, Jr., listened to the stories
of his father
who explored the rich tradition of his family through tales
like "The Smokey Mirror", which was later shared
by Miguel Sr. in The Four Agreements. Learning the Toltec
ways through story, allowed the young Miguel to naturally
connect remnants of an ancient society to the modern world
in which he was growing up. His father continued to pass
on the Toltec beliefs as the young Miguel learned to shed
superstition and discover the truth behind the myths.
At age 14, Miguel Jr. began apprenticing with both his father
and his grandmother Madre Sarita. He translated her prayers,
lectures and workshops from Spanish to English, giving him
insight into her teachings in both languages. Seeing first-hand
how she manifested her intent to heal people, both physically
and spiritually, Miguel Jr., came to understand the power
of faith. As his training intensified, he looked deeper into
the teachings of his father and grandmother, questioning
his role as an apprentice and the world around him.
After ten years of learning from and working with his family,
Miguel Jr. was sent into the world by his father who said, "Find
your way out. Go home and master death by becoming alive." Miguel
Jr. took the lessons of his father and grandmother and discovered
his own personal freedom. He never stopped thinking about
his teachings and was soon able to apply what he learned
to his everyday life, finding peace no matter what challenges
he faced. During this personal journey, Miguel Jr. met his
wife and started a family, transforming him further through
a newfound love.
Being able to apply his teachings to the world around him
gave Miguel Jr. a new understanding of the lessons his father
and grandmother had passed onto him, once again giving him
the desire to pass on his beliefs. After decades of training,
Miguel Jr. was finally ready to share everything he had learned.
As a Nagual, he now helps others discover optimal physical
and spiritual health, so that they may achieve their own
While his comprehension is not something that can always
be easily explained, as it often goes beyond the framework
of the mind into a purely spiritual understanding, Miguel
Jr. has found a way to pass on his beliefs using both the
tools of his family's traditions and the knowledge gained
through his own personal journey. Like his father, he found
a way to promote transformation through practical concepts.
Don Miguel Ruiz, Jr., currently leads a variety of workshops,
mentor programs and power journeys throughout the United
States and Mexico.
